Fabric Wrapped Clothesline Basket

This is a fabric wrapped clothesline basket that I made in September 2015. I never blogged about it because I didn't have the time or inclination. But I have trouble finding photos of this project so I'll post them here for easy storage. :) The basket bottom was about 12" round when I began the sides. The sides continued until I had used the entire length of clothesline. I think it was a 100 ft package. The sides of the basket rise about 6". This method is in the book called "It's A Wrap" by Susan Breier.

Beginning with a pile os 3/4" strips of Kaffe Fasset fabric strips and a package of cotton clothesline...

You can make a fabric wrapped basket.

The bottom of the basket is just one red fabric that I had yardage of.

The sides of the basket have all the pretty colors.
The little zippered case shown in the bowl is about 4" x 4".

The basket now holds all the fat quarters of Kaffe Fasset fabric that I have.

  1. Doing the stitching by machine is the part that intimidates me on this project. You have made it look easy, but I wonder if my machine could handle it?

  2. I've watched a few tutorials recently using this method and it's on my '2 do' list, which is growing weekly:p - love your colours and size :)

  3. Gorgeous! I have plans to make one of these soon. Have the clothesline, but too many WIPs to begin...

  4. How many bobbins full of thread did you need?

    1. I plan to make another clothesline basket soon and I will try to keep track of the #bobbins used. But I think it's just one or two at the most.
