After finding a mini ironing board tutorial online at Like A Saturday, I gathered some supplies: batting, fabric, staple-gun, and a wooden TV tray table to make into a portable ironing station that I can use by my sewing machine. It's big enough to iron the 9 1/2" Among Friends blocks and of course the cute 3" stars too. I loosely followed the tutorial but mostly did it my way.
The table has a 14 1/2" x 19" ironing surface and it's 26" high.
I started with this wooden TV table.
(I ordered the set of 4, hey, they're all usable!)
3 layers of batting: 2 layers same size as tabletop, one is 1 1/2" bigger all around.
Fabric was cut 4" larger than the table top so: 18 1/2" x 23", then I turned in a 1/2" hem all around and stitched it to make a nice finished edge.
Layer it: fabric wrong side up, larger batt, 2 smaller batts and table upside-down in the center.
I have this heavy duty staple gun from making the tuffet last year so I used it.
Sides first then I finessed the corner.
I stapled the fabric to the wood and the batt is automatically trapped inside.
This doesn't damage the original TV tray table except for a few staple holes on the underside!
Voila.
Just the right size for small blocks.
(I do have a smaller iron I could use on this table.)
I might take this table to NC and use it there as part of my mini sewing station.
